How To Join

By contacting us at WSAM or coming alone to one of our meetings that are every second Sunday of the month at Dial Post Village Hall, on the A24, RH13 8NJ. Arrive after 10.00am and speak to our membership Secretary Alan Cuthell or one of our Observers who can answer all your question and get signed up.

We also offer free taster rides if you’d like to get a feel of whether taking the IAM Roadsmart Advanced Rider Course is for you.

By going to the IAM Roadsmart Website

You can join IAM Roadsmart directly via their website but if you want to be allocated to WSAM which covers West Sussex and the surrounding area, ensure you enter ‘WEST SUSSEX ADVANCED MOTORCYCLISTS’ into the “Your  preferences section”. Once allocated to WSAM, we will contact you with further information.

Initial membership is as an Associate Member (the only prerequisite to joining is a full motorcycle licence and a road-legal motorcycle capable of attaining and maintaining the national speed limit). Full Member status is attained when you pass the advanced riding test.

WSAM is an affiliate group of IAM RoadSmart so there are different types of membership within each organisation. You become an Associate Member of each organisation while learning to pass the advanced motorcycle test, then Full Membership once you have passed.

Advanced Rider Course

The course includes everything required to take and pass the advanced riding test and become a full member for one year with both IAM Roadsmart and WSAM.

We also ask for a contribution of £60 towards your Observer’s running costs for 6 rides.

Subsequent IAM annual renewal currently costs £41. This doesn’t include WSAM membership which is £12  for full members and £25 for trainees.
