Yorkshire Tour
The Yorkshire trip was a great success. We had 9 riders and there were no incidents or accidents, so overall a good standard of riding. Martin had planned some excellent routes with great roads in the dales and moors. A big thanks to Martin for that. The weather in Yorkshire was mostly kind to us, although we did encounter dense fog in the moors. Thirsk was a great location for restaurants and pubs, so we also enjoyed our evenings. Wet weather gear was required on the trip back.

Thruxton Circuit Motorbike Day
A great day of learning on the Thruxton circuit today. Working through the different elements of IPSGA and other related acronyms! Putting it in to practice on the track.
Chris and I rode there this morning, leaving at just after 6am in decent conditions. Tony, Iain and John took the more relaxed approach and went up the day before, staying in hotels. The morning gave great weather considering what’s been thrown at us over the last few days but it was the usual shocker riding home afterwards ☔
About a 280 mile round trip for me today with about 100 miles round the track. Definitely worth a go if you’ve not tried one before.

Day ride out into Hampshire and Surrey
We met at Billy’s on the Road at 9am, left a 10pm to ride west to Cobbs Farm Shop near Winchester for tea and cake and then onwards by another route across to the Milk Churn in Rudgwick for more food and a cuppa arriving around 3 ish. Thanks to John Moore and Alan Kinsella, leader and backdoor for a great ride at a brisk pace using the drop off system which kept us together throughout. Overall about 120 miles.
WSAM Isle of Man Motorbike Trip 2024
Eleven of us went on a short tour of the island. I’d not been before but we rode most of the awesome roads (several times), went to a lot of the attractions and ate in some great fooderies.

25th Anniversary Day May 2024
Thanks to everyone who attended today, a nice way to celebrate 25 years of WSAM. A big thank you to Liam Hoad who took the lead on this, and to all the contributors. Here’s to the next 25 years!!

Cotswold Spring Tour 2024
Fantastic tour, organised and led by Brad Nicholson. Backdoor was Dave Hardcastle. A small amount of hail battering us as we rode over an unspecified hill on the way up but otherwise brilliant weather for the whole tour.

West Country Tour 2023
Excellent Tour, great group of riders and we all made it, so that’s a win 😉. Apart from a huge herd of cows crossing a road, someone knocking me off my bike by reversing into me and a few ‘green lanes’ all went well.
Unbelievable weather for October. Leaving Wincanton we headed down to Cerne Abbas and then onto Beaminster for coffee and cakes. Looping across past Exeter we stopped at Moretonhampstead for delicious milkshakes and lunch, before riding down to St Austell.
Yesterday after slogging back up the hill to where the bikes were parked securely at Ivy House B&B, we headed down to the King Harry Ferry, then up to stop for coffee at the beach at Porth Sands. Following the coast road and A39 we stopped at Bude by the river for Pasties and cream teas.
After dropping down to the stunning Heartland Quay we headed across to Lynton for food and rugby.
Drew and Paul head off today after we visit Valley of the Rocks and then we are heading home.
Thomas Strudwick popped in to WSAM on the 10th September and gave a very insightful chat about his journey to being a motorcycle racer.

Isle of Wight Trip
Little video of our trip to IOW over the weekend. Many thanks to Brad for the organisation and lead and to John as back door.
A group of like-minded middle-aged somethings from the West Sussex IAM took a mini motorcycle tour on the Isle of Wight and I was lucky enough to be one of them. I rode my Aprillia Touno which has a peanut-sized tank range compared to most of the others riding bikes designed to cross continents.
